I always have comments to make on your songs, but I end up squeezing them in other threads ... so now, I hope you don't mind, I'm going to devote an entire thread so I can finally freely comment on your songs =)

My Girl's Pussy- Hehehe, I like the word pun =)
Happy and light.

Come to think of it, one day while I was blog browsing, I ran across a blog featuring just that. Lots of pictures.

Now I have a thread to live up to? You know, I can't always find great songs everyday. Especially if I have to find them at MySpace. I often don't even want to bother.

If you are ever moved to go to the band's page from the music player, you might not be aware that I often put a link to a different page for the same band in the Music Section where I put my two cents in. The picture often links to a third.

My Girl's Pussy has been a fun fave of mine for decades. R. Crumb is better known as a cartoonist but I really like the Cheap Suit Serenaders. Their music really seems to be the perfect match for Crumb's drawings. MGP was on an LP called The Party Album which was meant to be played at 78 rpm. An oddity and good gimmick until you realize that you just paid full price for two songs. MGP is pure innuendo, The song that was on the flipside was pure filth.

Today's song is from Mountain a great classic rock band that barely ever gets any credit. They only made two albums (not counting Greatest Hits and Live from Strongbadia type junk), and only one real hit - Mississippi Queen. All of it's members came from and went on to other better known bands.

R. Crumb! I know of R. Crumb, not much though. The last time I went to the library archives to search for his stuff (comics) the library people couldn't find it =(

And yes, it definitely seems to fit Crumb's style.

I just feel the urge to comment, that's all. There's no pressure that you actually have to put up songs that appeals to everybody. My comments aren't going to be very insightful or anything either, it's just that more often than not I really like the songs you put up =)

Misirlou - I was listening to it, and was like, "Hey! I know that song!" I used to dance to it when I took belly dance classes, it was a lot of fun =)

Although the version I danced to was played by a Middle Eastern guy, don't remember his name.

R. Crumb is best known for the "underground" comics he produced in the late 60's, Zap Comix being the best known. It isn't the type of stuff your local library is going to carry.

I just discovered Dale Dick a few days ago, but he has been around a long, long time. Misirlou was recorded in 1963. He is known as the king of surf guitar.

Me too.

Take the "A" Train - I was about to say, that sounds like it's from the jazz era, then I saw it was by Duke Ellington. It sounds like something that ... gosh darnit can't remember his name ... that male singer that all the female people fell in love with when the men were away at some war ... he was really popular. He sang that song about asking some woman to be his lucky charm ...

Are you into songs by Ella Fitzgerald? I especially like her song Midnight Sun.

Ella's awesome.

They call you lady luck
But there is room for doubt
At times you have a very un-lady-like way
Of running out

Your on this date with me
The pickins have been lush
And yet before the evening is over
You might give me the brush

You might forget your manners
You might refuse to stay
And so the best that I can do is pray

Luck be a lady tonight
Luck be a lady tonight
Luck if you've been a lady to begin with
Luck be a lady tonight

Luck let a gentleman see
Just how nice a dame you can be
I know the way you've treated other guys you've been with
Luck be a lady with me

A lady never leaves her escort
It isn't fair, it isn't nice
A lady doesn't wander all over the room
And blow on some other guys dice

Lets keep this party polite
Never get out of my sight
Stick with me baby, I'm the guy that you came in with
Luck be a lady tonight

A lady never flirts with strangers
Shed have a heart, she'd be nice
A lady doesn't wander all over the room
And blow on some other guys dice

Lets keep this party polite
Never get out of my sight
Stick with me baby, I'm the guy that you came in with
Luck be a lady tonight

OOoooooh! I know that song! It was in the musical "Guys and Dolls" =)

It took me a while before I realized that the song was about luck and not about an actual lady. I don't like the MGM movie version of Guys and Dolls, they cut out Sky Masterson's poignant solo and replaced it with some cliche mushy love song.

That's not the song you were thinking of? Then I have no idea.

I did a google search on what little I remember of the lyrics ... it was Elvis Presley, LOL Blue_PDT_01_04
But I think the version I was thinking of was sung by Frank Sinatra ... so confusing ...
I think the lyrics in Luck Be A Lady is more witty.

Good Luck Charm

Don't want a four leaf clover
Don't want an old horse shoe
Want your kiss 'cause I just can't miss
With a good luck charm like you

Come on and be my little good luck charm
Uh-huh huh, you sweet delight
I want a good luck charm
a-hanging on my arm
To have, to have, to hold, to hold tonight

Don't want a silver dollar
Rabbit's foot on a string
The happiness in your warm caress
No rabbit's foot can bring

Come on and be my little good luck charm
Uh-huh huh, you sweet delight
I want a good luck charm
a-hanging on my arm
To have, to have, to hold, to hold tonight

I found a lucky penny
I'd toss it across the bay
Your love is worth all the gold on earth
No wonder that I say

Come on and be my little good luck charm
Uh-huh huh, you sweet delight
I want a good luck charm
a-hanging on my arm
To have, to have, to hold, to hold tonight
