The reason picked JetBlack as a name was because I couldn't spell Spiegel...dead serious. Now I'm glad I piced Jet; I've come to appreciate the character.

Sounds more like Spiku to me. Jet seems to suit you better. Like Jet, you seem more reserved and sensible than Spike.

I think that's come about since I've taken this name for myself, possibly even because of.

Well I'm glad you did. It suits you.

Yeah, he says Spiku. Hehehehe Japanese and their not being able to pronounce English... They really are terrible. Of the Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese, I wonder who's worse? Like... Trying to teach a small sample from each group the same phrases with the same teacher and see how well they do. It would be a very interesting...statistic.

That's why Japanese is the easiest language to learn. Alls you do is take an English word or phrase and turn it Japanese.

Example:
English: Super Hero
Japanese: Su-pah He-lo

I think you're mistaking Chinese for Japanese.

Japanese have no problems with the letter 'R.' They have trouble with 'L's. Conversely, Chinese can't pronounce R's, and it sounds like L.

"You wanna buy fly lye?" (Would you like to purchase some fried rice?)

So Hero would be like how they pronounce 'Hiro' of Gundam fame.

Anyway, I did read an article on the tremendous amount of assimilating English into the Japanese language in the modern era. It's a problem for a lot of the old timers who can't understand those darn youngn's.

'Computah?!?' Nani?

The problem isn't them not being able to pronounce English. Those Japanese that speak English, speak it just fine. The problem is that they integrate many English (and otherwise foreign) words into Japanese. Those words must then be phonetically changed to fit the Japanese writing system. If you remember, Japanese has no "L" sounds and no consonant-ending syllables. A, I, U, E, O, KA, KI, KU, KE, KO, SA, SHI, SU SE, SO, etc. See what I mean?

Therefore, "computer becomes 「コンピュター」 or "konpyutaa."

When did N become a vowel? I can't think of any other Japanese syllables that end in any other consonant besides N though.

Nodes, although it's true that the Japanese can pronounce R, more often than not it's pronounced as a D.

I think the real problem the Japanese have in speaking English is the fact that most people teaching English to them are other Japanese with imperfect English.

"N" is the only consonant sound they have, and it doesn't appear too often in Japanese words. You're probably right about the imperfect English of Japanese teachers, though. But I mean... accents are natural... as long as they're not too thick.

I always laugh whenever I see an anime with an American character speaking English with a Japanese accent so thick he still needs subtitles.

And yet in the Baseball episode of Samurai Champloo, they still put subtitles in when the Americans spoke English... (but wait, I just remembered! That was because the Japanese subtitles at the bottom said something different from what they actually said!)

Yeah, it's pretty bad. That's why, the anime is only a poser, compared to the manga.

Beck sure is a prime example of an Engrish fraught anime. A real good show otherwise.
