Buffett donates $37bn to charity

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/5115920.stm

which is nice and all, but the problem raising my eyebrow is it's going to Bill Gates foundation. what the hell?

can Mr. Buffet spare just a million dollars or two for me?

Must be nice. I wonder if Gates spends his charity money intelligently to really improve things or if he just throws it in the sinkhole like other charities.

Despite the hate Bill Gates gets from computer users around the word, he's a smart businessman. I imagine he has a better idea of what to do with the money than most people.

Indeed, but the point that it's for charity means he might make the more out of it than supposed to...let's just pray nothing stupid happens, especailly from the media.

See that's the deal. Gates is a very smart business man. You can do stuff with 37 billion. How's about investing it in some money market account with the notion that it's 'pending' before he decides where to use it. And maybe after a year or so, he slowly trickles the original capital to various charities, meanwhile making ridiculous earnings off of it. Like I said, it raises my eyebrow.

Now here's a great way to earn some money. Now all those dreams of being a lucrative assasin or bouty hunter can come true. Imagine that, putting down maybe $25,000 for weapons. $10,000 for a kick-ass phone and laptop. Another $20,000 for travel arrangements. Maybe $200,000 for a buff AMG G55 Benz and a Ferrari. And you'll still make out. How cool would that be? Blue_PDT_01_04

$10m reward to find Iraq killers

Russia is offering a $10m (£5.4m) reward for information leading to the capture of the militants who killed four Russian diplomats in Iraq.

A group linked to al-Qaeda released a video on Monday showing two of the captives being killed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered special services to "find and destroy" the killers of the hostages, who were abducted in early June.

The reward offer has been widely publicised on Arab television channels.

'Time and effort'

"In return for information leading to a result, Russia's National Anti-terrorist Committee will pay a reward of $10m," said Nikolai Patrushe, head of Russia's security service, in televised comments.

He promised earlier this week to carry out Mr Putin's order "however much time and effort it requires", Russia's Interfax news agency reported.

A Russian official said the country had received offers of help on the issue from "many overseas partners".

The Russian embassy employees were abducted when gunmen attacked their vehicle in the west Baghdad neighbourhood of Mansur on 3 June.

A fifth Russian citizen was killed during the kidnapping.

The video posted on the internet on Monday by the militant group, the Mujahideen Shura Council, showed one of the captives being beheaded and another being shot. The body of a third man was also shown.

Russia confirmed all the deaths the following day.

What happened to the guy who found him? Or was it a whole squad or something? Who got the money?

Good question, Jet. It wouldn't go to the troops that caught him since that is their job. If anyone got him it would have been someone who tipped them off that Saddam was there. If there was such a person and they paid the bounty, they wouldn't make the informer's name known or he wouldn't live long enough to cash the check.

That's great, Lost! Party! Party! Party! Blue_PDT_01_09

Hmmm...all we have to do is figure out where this "large" place is and get filthy rich. Looks like about $45 million is left, that's about how much Jed Clampett had. I could be having dinner in my own Billy-ard room and swimmin' in my own see-ment pond.

If anyone can find these bounties, I'd put my money on librarians. Those spooks can find anything if you give them a search engine and a couple of key words.

Congratulations on seeing your friends again, Lost. How many of them went over there?
