rose fragrance
sweetly rise
a mist before my eyes
gentle rainfall
sweetly spray
a tender drop of dew
unruffled, thinking of you |

She said, I'm home on shore leave,
Though in truth we were at sea
So I took her by the looking glass
And forced her to agree
Saying, you must be the mermaid
Who took Neptune for a ride.
But she smiled at me so sadly
That my anger straightway died
If music be the food of love
Then laughter is its queen
And likewise if behind is in front
Then dirt in truth is clean
My mouth by then like cardboard
Seemed to slip straight through my head
So we crash-dived straightway quickly
And attacked the ocean bed

I think I'm sophisticated 'cos I'm living my life like a good homosapien.
But all around me ev'rybody's multiplying and they're walking round like flies, man.
So I'm no better than the animals sitting in the cages in the zoo, man
'Cos compared to the flowers and the birds and the trees I am an ape man.
I think I'm so educated and I'm so civilized 'cos I'm a strict vegetarian
And with the over population and inflation and starvation and the crazy politicians.
I don't feel safe in this world no more
I don't want to die in a nuclear war.
I want to sail away to a distant shore
And make like an ape man.
I'm an ape man
I'm an ape ape man
Oh I'm an ape man.
I'm a king-kong man
I'm a voodoo man
Oh I'm a ape man.
'Cos compared to the sun that sits in the sky
Compared to the clouds as they roll by
Compared to the bugs and the spiders and flies
I am an ape man.
La la la la, lala la
In man's evolution he has created the city and the motor traffic rumble
But give me half a chance and I'd be taking of my clothes and living in the jungle.
But the only time that I feel at ease
Swinging up and down in a coconut tree.
Oh what a life of luxury to be like an ape man.
I'm an ape man
I'm an ape ape man
Oh I'm an ape man.
I'm a king-kong man
I'm a voodoo man
Oh I'm a ape man.
I look out of the window but I can't see the sky
The air pollution is fogging up my eyes
I want to get out of this city alive
And make like an ape man.
Come and love me
Be my ape man girl
And we'll be so happy
In my ape man world.
I'm an ape man
I'm an ape ape man
Oh I'm an ape man.
I'm a king-kong man
I'm a voodoo man
Oh I'm a ape man.
I'll be your Tarzan you'll be my Jane
I'll keep you warm and you'll keep me sane
We'll sit in the trees and eat bananas all day
Just like an ape man.
I'm an ape man
I'm an ape ape man
Oh I'm an ape man.
I'm a king-kong man
I'm a voodoo man
Oh I'm a ape man.
I don't feel safe in this world no more
I don't want to die in a nuclear war.
I want to sail away to a distant shore
And make like an ape man. _________________

Speak to me of summer, long winters, longer than time can remember,
Setting up of other roads to travel on in old accustomed ways.
I still remember the talks by the water, the proud sons and daughter that knew the knowledge of the land, spoke to me in sweet accustomed ways. _________________

"A feeling of sadness and longing, that is not akin to pain,
and resembles sorrow only, as the mist resembles the rain."
I can't remember the Chinese poetess's name off the top of my head ... and I'm not sure who did this translation. |

Well then, I hope she wrote lots more.
GO CAT GO
(Carl Perkins - D.J. Perkins)
CARL PERKINS (ARTISTONE/DINOSAUR, 1996)
Oh, sometimes it ain't easy boy, to roll out bed
And shake the cobwebs a-hangin' from your head
But you were born to be in the human race
And if you don't start movin'
You're gonna finish in last place
You gotta go-go-go, go-cat-go-cat-go
Hey, that sun is up and you can not lay around
Get off your butt, you can't do it sittin' down
Don't say you can't, can't never did a thing
If you believe you can and you can do anything
You gotta go-go-go, go-cat-go-cat-go
You gotta go-cat-go, you gotta hit that floor
You got to go-go-go, you got to go
Go-go-go, go-cat-go-cat-go
(Now get gone!)
It will always be something, no matter who you are
Poor man has his worries, just like the movie star
Throw down your trouble, you get light on your feet
Just listen to the music boy, and move with the beat
You gotta go-go-go, go-cat-go-cat-go
Watch your step and stay off your brother's toes
If your brother needs your help, help him carry his heavy load
And when this thing is over, someone greater than you and I
Will award each winner with eternal life
You gotta go-go-go, go-cat-go-cat-go
You gotta go-cat-go, you gotta hit that floor
You got to go-go-go, you got to go
You gotta go-go-go, go-cat-go-cat-go
(Ooh, yeah!)

Monday is the first day of Autumn. My favorite Fall tune:
Old Tennessee
by Dan Fogelberg
End of October
The sleepy brown woods seem to
Nod down their heads to the Winter
Yellows and grays paint the sad skies today
And I wonder when you're coming home
Woke up one morning
The wind through the window
Reminded me winter was just 'round the bend
Somehow I just did not see it was coming
It took me by surprise again
And I hear you're in San Francisco
Living with your sister who's a mother to be
And her husband's way down in Georgia
And I'm still in old Tennessee...
Wishing you'd come home to me
Life here is easy I'm sure you recall
How it's so warm and breezy
In the summer and the fall
But winter's upon me
And I've got no heat here
And I miss your fire so sweet
Dear I miss your fire so sweet _________________

She had a snake for a pet
And an amulet
And she was breeding a dwarf
But she wasn't done yet
She had gray-green skin
A doll with a pin
I told her she was alright
but I couldn't come in.
(Actually, I was very busy at the time.) _________________

The horse and the mule live thirty years
And nothing know of wines and beers.
The goats and sheep at twenty die
With never a taste of scotch or rye.
The cow drinks water by the ton
And at eighteen is mostly done.
The dog at sixteen cashes in
Without the aid of rum or gin.
The cat in milk and water soaks
And then in twelve short years it croaks.
The sober, modest, bone-dry hen
Lays eggs for nogs, then dies at ten.
The animals are strictly dry
They sinless live and swiftly die.
But sinful, ginful, rum-soaked men
Survive for three score years and ten. _________________

Has this ever happened to you? You just found a new song that you really like, but you just can't make out what that line is. So you Google the lyrics but the song is so good that only you are cool enough to want to learn the lyrics so no one has posted them.
This just happened to me. I need help to figure out some of the lines to this song. Here's a link to the song and the lyrics as I hear them. The ones I can't get are the La De Dah ones in boldface. Any other corrections would also be welcome. Oddly enough this song is about lyrics (sorta).
Love Sails
by Ilaria Graziano & Francesco Forni
There's a song for each of us
There's a melody unheard
And I heard all the lyrics
To your songs without words
[Dah de dah] straight in my face
Words are straight in the eye
Before you [la de dah dah]
[la la] glance if you dare
Then whatever you do don't you forget
[La de dah dah] stories begin
If you leave the door wide open
They say love comes sailing in
If you leave the door wide open
Love comes sailing in
There's a song for each of us
There's a melody unheard
And I heard all the lyrics
To your songs without words
I was writing the lyrics
You were whistling in a shower
If that's not give and take,
Then it's a marvelous crossed wire
Then whatever you do don't you forget
[La de dah dah] stories begin
If you leave the door wide open
They say love comes sailing in
If you leave the door wide open
Love comes sailing in
Comes sailing in...
Comes sailing in...
Then whatever you do don't you forget
[La de dah dah] stories begin
If you leave the door wide open
They say love comes sailing in
If you leave the door wide open
Love comes sailing in
Comes sailing in...
Comes sailing in...
Comes sailing in... _________________

That is a cool song. And I pride myself in being able to figure out lyrics... but this one is tough. It certainly sounds like words, but the words do not make sense in context. _________________ nodes aka GTBaka

Thanks, Nodes, for trying. This wasn't the only forum I posted that in, but yours was the only reply.
I know what you mean about what it sounds like not making any sense. That is why I used la-de-dahs instead of what I was hearing. If I had put what I heard, that's what you would have heard too.
I just listened again and I think I caught one of the missing lines:
[Dah de dah] straight in my face
Words are straight in the eye
Before you bat it's eyelid
[la la] glance if you dare
It still doesn't seem quite right, but consider that English isn't her first language or may not be any language of her's at all. She may be doing it phonetically. I can hear her Italian accent here and there. "There's a song, for itch of us..." "If you live the door wide open..." _________________
