May he rest in peace. Life goes on, but his works will be remembered proudly by us. |

Seems Only My Railgun won song of the year this year. I'm not surprised, I'm hearing it in every arcade, anime sites I go to. Its good, and deserves top place.

I'll take everything there's there but K-ON. Its cute, but IMO lacks the depth of every winner before it. Perhaps this year everyone's looking at something to de-stress ourselves.
And interesting how Pixar got 2009 Film award. I never expected they included that as animation. It was good, nuff said. |

As far as the music goes, I am unfamiliar with everything on that list except the K-ON! tune which I rather like, and the video for it is grand. Okay, K-ON! isn't too deep but they're just high school girls. How deep are they supposed to be?
I have strong objections to some of the stuff in the other categories. You should be well aware of my hatred for Evangelion by now. And since when is anything by Pixar considered to be anime? _________________

Roberta's Blood Trail is the good stuff.
But the manga gets only one chapter every few months due to its violent content. And I'm very disappointed in the Ayako subs for Seitokai Yakuindomo.............being wrong is one thing, being crude at the same time just makes it bad.
I just watched the Macross Frontier Movie recently, since I bought the BD for it......I must say.......why is it I would prefer Lyn MinMei over Sheryl is still a mystery to me. |

ANN: Summer Wars Submitted for Oscar Nominations
Quote: | 15 films submitted for 3 spots; 16+ must be accepted for 5-nominee field
...
The academy allows up to five nominations in this category if 16 or more films are submitted and accepted; if only nine to 15 films are accepted, the academy will allow only a maximum of three nominations. Four of the submitted films, including Summer Wars, still need to run in Los Angeles County for at least one week to qualify for acceptance in the category. All of the films still need to be examined by the academy's Animated Feature Film Award Screening Committee to determine if they meet other qualifications. |
It's up against some tough competition. I haven't even heard of all of them, let alone seen them. I thought Despicable Me and How To Train Your Dragon were very good and they were well promoted so a lot more of the Academy will have seen them. I don't think that anyone is going to pay for the media hype to promote Summer Wars for a Crispness run; so, as good as it is, I'm not holding my breath for it. _________________

I'm a biased man, so I can't comment. But the Dissappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi, which I just watched at the recent AFAX.
That, was awesome. Sugita is too good. |

Since The Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi hasn't run in the theaters in LA (or anywhere else in the US), it doesn't qualify for the Oscars. Rules like that are one of the main reasons I don't like the Oscars. The whole thing is rigged in Hollywood's favor. _________________

If I remember right, I believe Appolon took top honors for manga this year. Was kind of ambivalent about the anime project... Until now. _________________ This is not a signature.™ |

Not yet. I've had so many other things that I've been watching, though I should make time to watch it. _________________ This is not a signature.™ |

At this point just wait till the Seventeenth and go see it in the theater.
The Secret World of Arrietty Trailer
It's the most Disney-esque of the Ghibli films yet. I think they made this specifically to appeal to western audiences. _________________
