So what, if anything, are you guys doing to celebrate Halloween? Halloween is very frustrating to me. It's one of my top three favorite holidays but I never have the time or cash to properly celebrate it anymore. These days, I'm lucky to be home to give out candy to the kids.
I'm going to a small, dry party tonight for work, but I don't even have a costume.
Here is the Astronomy pic for the day:
I learned from the text that:
Quote: | Halloween's modern celebration retains historic roots in dressing to scare away the spirits of the dead. Since the fifth century BC, Halloween has been celebrated as a cross-quarter day, a day halfway between an equinox (equal day / equal night) and a solstice (minimum day / maximum night in the northern hemisphere). With our modern calendar, however, the real cross-quarter day will occur next week. |

I attended a dry work-related party, too. I don't usually celebrate Halloween though, it's kinda like Columbus Day or something to me. _________________ Mugen Rocket!!! |

The party I went to wasn't too bad. It would have been much better with booze, but what ya gonna do? I had my iPod with a mess of good Halloween tunes and a patch cord for it, but there was only a boom box stereo with no inputs at the party - *sigh*. At the last minute I remembered something, borrowed a black t-shirt and went as a shirt ninja. Lame, but better than nothing. _________________

I didn't do anything. Halloween sucks in Dunedin, nobody gets into it. It's a shame because theme-wise it's one of my favourites. However it fell on a Tuesday, and Tuesdays are game nights, and out of coincidence we ended up playing Arkham Horror, which I suppose is good enough. And we actually won for once. Truly a strange and spooky event. Also, one person showed up in costume, so I suppose I could've done it too, but it's too late now. |

I had to work. But I dressed up like a fairy as a kind of 'screw you' to my boss. |
