Thanks to the approaching of my NS, I took the whole of yesterday to finish watching all the animes I've downloaded...

And now I'm here so as to comment on how surprised I was, yet again...for crying in the last episode of Jigoku Shoujo...I don't get touched often...it's as though they managed to put stress throughout the entire series, and finally let it out at the last episode...most entertaining, I must say.

And Hajime is really lucky to have such a sensible daughter...but then within the last 2 episodes the thought of wether he was a Lolicon came into mind...(just speaking my thoughts now...don't mind me)

Also...to Grin and anyone else who completed the series...a little thing to think about...Given the fact that Ai was brought back from hell to be punished, and given a job...who the hell was the spider that gave all these orders? Messenger of Hell? 3 eyes, Cerberus? The Mountain God?

And finally, poor nurse, to be brought down to hell thanks to a psychopath...maybe Ai can pull her back out to work for her, or something...if she felt sorry for her.

They're already well into the second season of Jigoku Shoujo, plus there is a live action version out there too.

The show is a curious blend of christian and shinto mythologies. The spider is a good example of this and a mystery to me. At one point I thought that it was a different manifestation of Emna's grandmother because of the spinning wheel she is always working at. Then I noticed a scene where both appeared, so that's not it. I usually don't delve too deeply into such matters and tend to take stories at face value. I believe that most deep, hidden meanings behind stories are invented by various members of the audience rather than the authors - no matter how well they fit. These stories are just a series of fables to me. They teach things about life and human nature.

The one about the nurse teaches that life isn't fair and that that is the basis of tragedy and chaos. I think that this episode is one of the triggers that made Emna snap.

One thing I have wondered about is that flower-shaped light in the sky during the scenes of the river Stix. I have seen this in other shows depicting the underworld and I wonder what is it's signifiance.
