Just felt like posting this. It's on his AG profile.
Once there was a man. He was just a man. He was an average man. He had no special talent. He had no special knowledge. He was a samurai. He was an average swordsman. Not the best swordsman but not the worst just average. This man had two brothers. One was a superb swordsman. And the other was a weak swordsman. One day these three brothers were sent to battle. The superior swordsman brother had many kills. The average swordsman brother had few kills. And the weak swordsman brother had no kills and barely escaped with his life. But they all survived. Later that evening the three brothers were challenged to a duel by three men who had fought against them in the day's earlier battle. They accepted and met those men in the town square at midnight. The entire village was watching in anticipation that the three rival warriors would be defeated. These men were the best swordsman from the opposition. All six samurai warriors engaged in battle at once one on one. The weak swordsman brother was pathetic. he was defeated with ease but not killed instead the man he was facing stood over him and laughed at the inferior man and told him to go away. The great swordsman brother fought hard with honor and defeated his opponent. The average brother struggled. He kept fighting and fighting but he could not defeat his adversary. The battle lasted for hours into the night. Finally at Dawn the battle was over. But the villagers had gone to bed and no one was around to see the outcome. The two brothers had also gone to bed. At dawn they awoke. They were anxious to see their brother in the glory of victory. But instead they found their brother lying gently lifeless in a pool of blood and gore. The brothers began to weep. Then an old man came forward and told them he saw everything. He told them the battle had ended ten minutes ago. He told them their brother fought hard but in the end was no match for his antagonist. While it was apparent that he was weaker than the rival swordsman he still held his own. Until ten minutes ago both men were tired ready to give up but then the average brother used all of his might and energy and sliced the other man's chest with average precision. This severely angered the rival. He unleashed all of his skill and slashed the average man at vital points. And so ended the life of the average man. The remaining brothers picked up and carried their fallen sibling home, cleansed his body, dressed him in his best garb, and buried him. And on his tombstone it read this "Here lies an average man. He had no special talents. He had no special knowledge. But he had his honor. And he was honorable." |

Yes I remember this story.
I miss solidus. Speaking of GTO he was pretty hyped up about it. More so than me. _________________ nodes aka GTBaka

I remember that too. I wish he could be here and it's fitting that we remember him so. *sniff* _________________

Wouldn't it be weird... if we were told a lie? That he was still here, but he never came back..?
Still, I miss him too. All the people that have left us, by either getting a life, or losing it. They were all so cool ,>.<, _________________

As long as AG stays up, we can hope that others will show up here. Even if it doesn't that could still happen. That's why we named this place The Cowboy Bebop Front, so they could still find us through Google. That isn't going to happen with solidus though.
EDIT: I just googled "Cowboy Bebop Front" and found these:
The Cowboy Bebop Front
I also found some stuff from AudioGalaxy but noting from here yet.
Plus there is this:

Subject: World Domination- Bebop style. All Cowboy Bebop fans Unite!
From the Cowboy Bebop Front
I represent a group of growing people interested in uniting cowboy
bebop fans from every group. This new group, which does not ask you to
leave your old groups, would be large enough to have influence in a
large scale manner. If interested please visit:
http://www.cowboybebopfront.bravepages.com/ or if you are an audio
galaxy user join the cowboy bebop front group. Thanks for your time
and keep Bebopin.
Zebutron | Remember Zebutron? There is a partial email address there. Anyone with a Yahoo account want to go there and retreive it for me? (I must have six yahoo accounts by now but I never seem to be able to get in.) _________________

It isn't a lie AOC. Easy to hide behind the internet and fabricate a story yeah, but that would be extremely out of character for solidus after knowing him for 5 years.
If you google Zebutron... first one is a myspace page.
Don't know if it could be him. Can't look past it for more details anyway, since I refuse to setup my own myspace account. Anyone with a myspace account is free to check if it could be him.
I did upload our url to google just now. Hopefully that speeds up the search engine crawler process. _________________ nodes aka GTBaka

I'll look him up on MySpace.
Edit: I'm not certain that's him but I sent him a message anyway.
Also Iron Poke just joined AnRe. I messaged him too. _________________

Cool.
As far as I'm concerned, the only guys I really really want to inform of this place are the guys that would come back. Even if it was an annual thing. That'd be.
Poke - good to hear you might be able to contact him
Maura - no word yet huh? Hope she gets the message
Ricktofen - could be the new guy, don't know
stickupkid - last he reared his head was... about 2 months ago if i recall right
crazy ivan x -it feels like a year since I've heard from him, BUT... he knows the post-AG demise era board exists. _________________ nodes aka GTBaka

Poke has become a semi-regular lately. He'll find his way here.
Marua's email address was an .edu one. She may be off on spring break or graduated for all I know. It's been a while since we've communicated.
You might be right about Ricto. I think he'll show up in any case.
I think it's been longer than you think since we've heard from Stuckup and Ivan. _________________

I, too, remember ultimatesolidus, his love for Bebop and GTO, his thoughtful commentary... I even remember him talking about his dreams. He was quite fond of the old board and all of us. Though we didn't even know his name, I wish we could at least know what day his birthday was. I'd light a candle for him. |

Oh yeah his dream with Shinchiro Watanabe on it.
I wish I saved it somewhere... it pretty much summed up us gaijin's fascination with japanese culture. _________________ nodes aka GTBaka

The Parting Glass
All the money that e'er I had
I spent it in good company
And all the harm I've ever done
Alas, It was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
To memory now, I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Goodnight and joy be to you all!
Fill to me the parting glass
And drink a health whate'er befalls
Then gently rise and softly call
Goodnight and joy be to you all!
Of all the comrades that e'er I had
They're sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I had
They'd wish me one more day to stay.
Since it fell into my lot
that I should rise, and you should not
I'll gently rise and softly call
Goodnight and joy be to you all!
But since it fell into my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and softly call
Goodnight and joy be to you all!
So fill to me the parting glass
And drink a health whate'er befalls
Then gently rise and softly call
Goodnight and joy be to you all!
Lux Eterna my friend. _________________

The book thread reminded me of solidus. I was going to post there, but figured I'd stick it in his enshrinement.
Recently I was able to turn him on to James Clavell novels. Really appropriate considering all of our infatuation with asian culture. Clavell put great emphasis on the cultural differences & often pronounces them with a foreigner who has to adjust to the culture. Always, it is in the best interests for this foreign protagonist to respect the culture... more so than have some arrogant self-centered westernized point of view.
For everyone's information, solidus' brother appeared and broke the sad news to us. The audiogalaxy cowboy bebop page was his homepage and so allowed easy access to informing us of his passing. He told us that being home-bound and usually bed ridden from cancer... solidus found solace and escapism in the wealth of Japanese media such as anime & manga, Clavell novels was another form I had the chance of introducting to him.
I'll always remember him for his positive view of life. I remember feeling world-weary one day and it was him and I think Grinny telling me not to be so cynical, that life was to short to waste your life on garbage like that. Looking back it really is quite sad seeing the whole picture now. But the regular sporadic conversations and enthusiam for different things that he, Jet & I shared made me value more so the influence we had on each other. I usually detach myself from online relationships, but for as long a period as we hung out on AG... I can't help but think of him as a friend. _________________ nodes aka GTBaka

I haven't post here before so...though I only knew him from his name and I have little memories of being able to converse with him well enough to be friend but from his AG profile alone, I can feel his fighting prowess and spirit, not to mention his honor. It is truly regretful that I am unable to recognize these traits of his in the past, he could've been my great friend and at the same time a rival. I could've recommend him to read Musashi. Anyway...he was indeed a great man who cherished honor and above all his attitude to not give up. I would be honor to visit his grave and pay my respect in a proper manner but as for now, my prayers to his departed soul. _________________ The mark of my divinity shalt scar thy DNA. |
