Let's start with the basics. Derivatives. A derivative is a rate. Or a slope of a curve.

A little notation. Anytime you see d/dx(....) in front of a number or a function within the paranthesis, it denotes taking the derivative of the number or function. Note that, the parenthesis are my notation for simple reading on this message board. Usually you see a d with a dx beneath and the function after.

Okay! So let's move on to our very first derivative. The derivative of a constant. This is very simple. Because the answer is always the same. Zero!!! That's right, the slope of a constant line has no slope, or is a slope of zero.

Examples.

d/dx(3) = 0

d/dx(623,420) = 0

I'm downright dyslexic when it comes to math. It took me three years to get through algebra and I don't remember a thing from it now.

Derrivative Lesson #2
The Power Rule - d/dx(x^n) = nx^(n-1)

*Note: For any y=f(x), dy/dx can also be noted as f'(x).

IronPoke - is it a lower case or upper case "e"? A lower case "e" is the base for natural logarythms or ln. e=2.718 (appoximately), though I doubt that what you're getting is that specific "e". We all know you can't divide by zero. Maybe it's just your calculator.

Hmmm. Fine.

I give you differential equations.

Solutions of Second-Order Linear Homogeneous Equations with Constant Coefficients.

If we restrict our attention to equations of constant coefficients

ay"+by'+cy = 0

and solve the equation by assuming that y = e^(rt) is a solution for some value of r. We find r by subbing this solution into this mofo called the ODE. Ordinary Differential Equation. With y'=re^(rt) & y" = r^2*e^rt we get this baby:

ar^2*e^rt+bre^rt+ce^rt = 0.

Use your algebra kiddies!

e^rt*(ar^2+br+c) = 0.

Ignore that crap in the front and just solve the characteristic equation.

And then to tie up the loose ends, get the roots for r. Using your standard quadratic forumula.

Some of the male units come with an additional switch.

There is a problem with overheating so this switch is wired to a relay that shuts it off after ten minutes and it can't be turned back on for at least fifteen - or much longer in older models.

and we all know time is money (time = money), therefor

women = money x money = money^2

and it has been reported that money is the root of evil

money = evil ^ (1/2) ....meaning

women = evil ^((1/2) x 2) = evil
